Testimony: Alli’s Story

September 2016, a new season of dance classes began. It was the place where I could escape into the music and not think about life for a few hours. Depression and anxiety plagued me daily, many times to the brink of suicide. Most of the regular girls were back plus someone I’d never met before. Within a few weeks she seemed to know that I was struggling inside and I was drawn to her for some reason.

She soon became a friend and someone I could call anytime day or night. She talked about Jesus and how much He loves me and cheered me on. Turns out she needed me as well, she was returning to dance after 10 years and welcomed extra help with dance steps and choreography, these times brought us even closer. Things took a turn for the worse when my relationship ended suddenly. I called my new friend who jumped in her car and came right over in my distress. I could either completely fall apart or I could give Jesus a try and believe He is who He says He is. I know now that He’s real. He gave me peace, strength and courage to know that I would be okay.

That weekend she invited me to visit the Niagara Dream Centre Adopt- a -block program on Saturday. I loved it, I loved the people, I loved the kids. I could make a difference and it made me happy. God does have a plan for me and I’m so excited to see where He takes me. I now take every Saturday off work so that I can serve at the Dream Centre.

I’m also so grateful that I graduated with my college degree that year amidst all my hardships. Just like that one person who made a difference in my life. I can be the one person who makes a difference in another life. God is good
